The duo SCHIFANOIA* was named after the homonymous Renaissance palace in Ferrara. “Schifar la noia” (to “escape from boredom”) resonates harmoniously with the music the duet plays: baroque works written for music lovers to pass time.
These seldom heard pieces are as interesting to audience ears as challenging to the musicians, as the technical level is comparable to other highly regarded works in their instrument’s concert repertoire.
Inês and Isabel met in 1998 in their native Brazil and have been playing together ever since, in various ensemble formations. Now master graduates of the conservatories of The Hague and Brussels respectively, the consolidation of the duo in order to dedicate time to studying and performing these works was a natural process.
The duo had an extensive tour in Brazil in July 2009 with a program of baroque music and chorinho. In August, SCHIFANOIA* was one of the 8 ensembles selected for the International Young Artists Presentation, which was part of the 2009 Laus Polyphoniae festival in Antwerp.

"Schifar la noia" ("ontsnappen uit verveling") resoneert harmonieus met de muziek die het duo speelt: barokmuziek geschreven voor muziekliefhebbers voor tijdverdrijf. Deze zelden uitgevoerde muziek is zowel interessant voor de luisteraars als uitdagend voor de musici. Het technische niveau is vergelijkbaar met andere hooggewaardeerde muziek uit het muzikale repertoire voor de instrumenten van het duo.
Isabel en Inês ontmoetten elkaar in 1998 in hun geboorteland Brazilië en spelen sindsdien samen in verschillende ensembles. Als afgestudeerden van respectievelijk Brussel en Den Haag vormden zij bijna als vanzelfsprekend een duo om zich gezamenlijk aan verdere studie te wijden en aan het opvoeren van de betreffende muziek.
In juli 2009 maakte het duo een uitgebreide toer in Brazilië met een programma van barokmuziek en 'Chorinho". In augustus 2009 was SCHIFANOIA* één van de acht ensembles, die werden geselecteerd voor de 'International Young Artists Presentation', deel uitmakend van het 'Laus Polyphoniae Festival' in Antwerpen.
O duo SCHIFANOIA* foi batizado em homenagem ao homônimo palácio renascentista em Ferrara. "Schifar" ou "schivar la noia" ("afastar o tédio") ressoa em perfeita harmonia com a música que o dueto toca: peças do barroco usadas como passatempo por amantes da música.
Este vasto conjunto de obras, raramente presentes nos programas de concerto, não só é de interesse do público, mas apresenta desafios técnicos ao flautista doce, tornando-se assim parte essencial do repertório deste instrumento.
Inês e Isabel se conheceram em 1998 e tocam juntas desde então em formações camerísticas diversas. Hoje mestras em música pelos conservatórios de Haia (Holanda) e Bruxelas (Bélgica) respectivamente, a consolidação do duo com o objetivo de dar atenção a este repertório especial foi um processo natural.
Além de concertos regulares na Holanda (onde vivem atualmente), o SCHIFANOIA* fez uma pequena turnê pelo Brasil em julho de 2009, com um divertido programa de música barroca e chorinho, recebido calorosamente pelo público do Rio, São Paulo e Brasília. Em agosto, o grupo foi um dos 8 selecionados pelo International Young Artists Presentation, que fez parte do festival Laus Polyphoniae 2009 em Antuérpia.
